Experience 1: Collaboration in the Classroom
Mrs. Prekrel's Classroom:
Using Microsoft Office 365, Mrs. Prekrel's Biology class was able to take a paper and pencil project and transform it into a collaborative, digital project. Students were able to work in groups and complete a worksheet online together (given guidelines) and then create a brochure to demonstrate what they learned. Then, they shared these brochures with each other to help the other students understand the concepts they were researching. Sample Brochures: Example 1, Example 2, Example 3 Students working on the project liked working together without fighting for use of the computers, and being able to add information to their project independently but having immediate access to each other's work. If you are interested in setting up a project like this, I would love to help you out! |

Mrs. Powell's Classroom: Artful design can be included in many instructional activities. In Mrs. Powell's Perspectives in Art class, her students are very aware of imagery. To bring her perspectives of time project up- to-date, Mrs. Powell asked her students to design a website advertising for an art show. Students created visually pleasing websites using their digital design skills on Weebly, rather than creating paper brochures. Creating an online presence may be something a student can use outside of the classroom, as several students mentioned. Experience 3: Test Review
Mr. Baker's Classroom:
Students need time to prepare for their exams. Mr. Baker created a Studio board inside Discovery Education. Students used the board that he created to review information from their current unit to ready themselves for the coming exam. They were able to view videos, read articles and use interactive activities in order to keep their interest. Access the review studio board here: Government Review (must be signed in to access) Access Discovery Education here: Discovery Education Several students liked that the review was online and an individual assignment. Mr. Baker hopes in the future to have his review easily submitted online as well. |
